Blue Rocks School Programs

The Wilmington Blue Rocks are dedicated to working with area schools on some very exciting and extremely popular school programs. It is through the Outstanding Student Program, Rocky's Reading Challenge and school visitations that the Blue Rocks are able to impact students from our local schools in a such a positive way. Read below for information on how your school can get involved in these spectacular programs. For additional information, contact the Blue Rocks Community Affairs Department or call 302-888-2015.

Each season, the Blue Rocks honor outstanding students at Frawley Stadium through our "Blue Rocks Outstanding Students" program, presented by Grotto Pizza. Local school teachers select students to receive a complimentary ticket to a Blue Rocks game and on-field recognition for their achievement in the classroom.

Teachers may begin nominating students for this program beginning in February of each year.

Rocky's Reading Challenge, presented by the Delaware State Education Association, encourages local students to read and rewards them for doing exactly that. Students receive two free tickets to a Blue Rocks game if they complete 10 books (or other reading parameters set by their school/teachers).

Wilmington Blue Rocks mascot Rocky Bluewinkle makes the rounds to area schools in Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Maryland from January through March to promote the importance of reading and "Rocky's Reading Challenge." The mascot, along with a friend from the team's front office, acts out a story to an assembly of kindergartners, first, second, and third graders to show kids just how much fun reading can be!
